One year ago today!

Ok this blog was not meant for this however I feel that I have to put this in words. On year ago today my brother James Schat Jr. wrecked his motor bike.

I got the call when on my way to Tinker Air Force Base to pick up our freight. I don't normally take calls when I'm driving a semi truck and trailer. This time it was from my family that normally would not call me during work. I heard that there was a wreck and he was being Medaflight to OU Med Center. I called my Dispatch after I got on base and settled down. Told them all I knew and that I would get what I could out there then I'm heading in. If they had nothing I'm going to OU Med Center. I went in and told my friends what was going on and I would really like them to call cut off on air freight. Of course they did. I received very little from Tinker that day, but I headed out quickly back to the dock.

After getting off the clock I sped to Presbyterian Tower our Trauma canter in OKC. Then met with family and listened to a Dr. that walked in on our Family of RN's and RNA's. Poor Dr didn't look at all the Scrubs when he walked in. He at first tried to over talk every one, then they started asking questions that I would not nor could not have thought to ask. The Dr. was no more ready for them as they were ready for him. Around 8pm that night we got to start taking turns seeing him.

Two weeks after that awful day my uncle had been put into Hospice. His cancer was winning and this was his choice from years before when they thought he was done. During my route I would stop by the hospital and see my big brother. Then I heard about my Uncle James, I drove my work truck up there and seen him for the last time. Little did I know two months later I would be back there for my big brother.

I've had people that I've known die due to motorcycles, my cousin had even died on a quad wheeler. As I told lots of people I've known lots of people die on or because of bikes, however this is the closes. The part very few know is that I almost gave up two wheels because of that long two months. However the last thing Jimmy gave me was a little bell for my bike. This last spring I went out Tagged my bike and put that bell on my bike. Now no matter where I ride he will always be there with me. I miss him every day he was my riding partner and we would just go out for nice rides together. I know he would not have liked me to give up the ride nor would I want any one else give up the ride because of me.

The Purpose of the Guardian® Bell

Many of us have heard the story about Evil Road Spirits. They are little gremlins that live on your bike. They love to ride, and they’re also responsible for most of your bike’s problems. Sometimes your turn signals refuse to work; your battery goes dead, the clutch needs adjustment, or any of several hundred things that can go wrong. These problems are caused by Evil Road Spirits.
Evil Road Spirits can’t live in the presence of the bell, because they get trapped in the hollow of the bell. Among other things, their hearing is supersensitive, so the constant ringing of the bell and the confined space drives them insane. They lose their grip and eventually fall to the roadway. Have you ever wondered how potholes are formed? The bell has served its purpose.
If you pick up a Guardian® Bell of your own, the magic will work, but if your bell is given to you, the power is doubled, and you know that somewhere you have a special friend helping to look after you.
So, if you have a friend who doesn’t have a bell, why not give them one? It’s a nice feeling for the recipient to know you care. The bell, plus a good preventive maintenance program by the bikes owner, will help eliminate Evil Road Spirits.

The Old Ways by David Dalglish

The Old Ways by David Dalglish

Once again this book takes off right were Clash of Faiths left off. The two Paladins now on the same side and working towards the same goal. However while hiding out in a shack there is a bounty put out on the former Dark Paladin's life because of what had happened in Durham (town from Night of Wolves). This is bothersome for them as they are trying to keep a low profile. When the leader of the Bandits tries to capture the Dark Paladin it causes both Paladins to leave the camp.

Now that the Paladins are now separated again. One goes to Blood Tower to try and clear his name. The other takes off towards a good leader in his hope to help him overthrow a tyrant.

Blood Tower has been taken over by Dark Paladins and their sect. With the help of a ancient spell the young priest has taken on a path no longer followed by his people. It's up to a small amount of people to overthrow this priest and restore order to the tower.

After running to a Dark Priest and being set free to live out his days. He has no option but to head to the castle and help the older brother overthrow the tyrant. While defending the castle the paladin lives still the remaining forces are in retreat from the slaughter. When the Dark Priest makes it to the battle field, he kills the rebel leaders sister, the White Paladins only love.

This book is by far the better of the three. I really like how he brings all three books together and does not let a moment go by when our paladins are fighting, running, or morning. The end was a great surprise to me at least and I will be reading the next book of this series when he completes it.

David Dalglish has become one of my favorite authors. I'm reading other story lines by him as well. I hope they are all as good as this series is.

Clash of Faiths by: David Dalglish

B005EDNIJ8
Clash of Faiths by David Dalglish

This book took up right where the first one left off. Our hero was captured by a band of thieves that were fighting a tyrant Lord. The outlaws brought him to their camp so that he could heal their leaders sister. As his friend of another God has lost his God's blessing. While trying to get back his God's blessing a sinister Profit from his religion starts guiding him. The two are on very different paths at the beginning of this book. The Light Paladin helping the people of the north fight against the tyrant. While the Dark Paladin kills several of his brothers to protect his own life.

The two Paladins are led towards and ultimate fight against one another. In the final battle of the book, the clash of the two Paladins. The Light Paladin keeps telling the Dark Paladin he forgave him and may he find his way. The Dark Paladin while down excepts the Light Paladins hand and excepts the Light Paladin's faith as his own. With his first act as a Light Paladin he puts a stop to the Profit.

This story is very good at the end I had to get book three. I thought for sure that the dark would truly find the Light Paladin and imprison him for all to see the last of the Light Paladins. Lots of turns and a great story line. Please read this fantastic book after the first book Night of Wolves. I think any one who likes Fantasy books would like this book and his other books as well.

The Serpent's Shadow By: Rick Riordan

The Serpent's Shadow By Rick Riordan

This is a great book, It's the last in a series about the Egyptian gods and their relation with magicians that follow the path of the Gods. As with all three books it follows the course that Carter and Sadie Kane use to defeat Chaos and save the world from the snake Apophis. In this book it is spoken from first person from both Carter and Sadie. Carter and Sadie since the first book now have Trainees of their own. Their Uncle is the Chief Lector (the oldest and most powerful of the magicians). As their uncle has been threatened by a group of magicians from Russia, the Kane's must focus on the more drooling task of destroying Apophis if you can destroy a God.

What I like the best is how at the end when Sadie and Carter's mom tell the Sadie their challenges are not over, other Gods and magicians from outside Egypt will challenge them. I hope he crosses the two worlds he has created.

This book is a great read however it's not for one that hasn't read the first two. I started this book and couldn't put it down. It's easy to read and has some great information on Egyptian Gods and their relationship with those that followed their way. I do strongly recommend all three books of the Kane Chronicles and of course the entire Percy Jackson series. Thank you for reading.

MOCKINGJAY by: Suzanne Collins

OK I've read the first two books before I started this. Mostly I listened to them with my wife. I don't really like Audio Books because I don't retain what I've heard like when I read it.

For the first book (THE HUNGER GAMES) I just want to compare it to the move that recently was released. The second book (CATCHING FIRE) I want to tell all the things they can't fallow through because of the changes from the first movie. In conclusion I've decided not to write anything on them here.

For this book I fell strait into it without any warnings, I read it in two days. I love how this book picks up right where the second leaves off. You can't really follow along with what's going on if you have not read the first two. In every one of these books something happens that I'm not ready for or I think will happen later. This book series should be a must read on anyone's list. My wife and I listened to the first to together and now we read the last one together. I'm interested to see if Suzanne Collins has any other great works for me to read. The writhing stile is at a high school level for the Comprehension but the reading is around young adult level.
Please read this great work of art along with the other Two.

The Wolf Gift, by: Anne Rice

This book was much anticipated do to Anne Rice had not released a book like this in quite some time. I have been a big follower of Anne Rice's every since I was introduced to Interview With A Vampire. I have read all of the Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair Witches. I am so excited that one of my most favorite authors will be writing for young adults again.
In this great book I got into a lot of trouble because I just could not put it down. I felt that Anne Rice still has the stuff to write what the young want's to read. Like with the Vampire Chronicles she may be ahead of the curve on where people will put their imagination. I love like with the Mayfair Witches she has left it open so that she can bring in other creatures. One part of the book when Reuben talks with the Marrok the oldest of their kind, Marrok talking about how the change comes to pass tells them "when it is given with the deep bite, injecting the Chrism directly into the bloodstream at many points, well, it acts as it did with you, in about seven to fourteen days. The moon has nothing to do with in. Such legends have a different origin and nothing to do with us."
I thought the first part of the book was a little hard to get into, and the chapters were a little long and I had just finished another book so my mind was still on this book.
I feel that every young person who enjoys a good book will truly enjoy this book. It took no time to read this book and as with all Anne Rice's books they stay with you for a long time.

Thank you Anne Rice for Writing that which we all love you for.

The Gift, by: James Patterson

This was a great book, I was caught up in it from chapter one. There was a few surprises twards the end when they get to see their parents. I like how this series fallows from one book to the other where you could pick up book one and not want to stop reading until the last book. I think that I will reread this series once it's been completed.
The only thing that bothers me is how the two main characters switch from one to the other, this kind of makes me feel like I reading a drama instead of a great action fantasy. I would recommend this book to any one that likes youth fantasy books. This is such a fast read that most people will finish this in a matter of day's. As I read every word, it only took me a couple day's to finish this.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson
by: Henry Childs Merwin

This was a very informative book. Lots of information that's not in our history books. The one thing I found most interesting was that the Constitution on The United States had been modified by the early congress before being excepted. I had a hard time with this book because the Author would change time lines. One moment your reading about Thomas Jefferson in 1800 then it goes back to 1790. I would recommend this to any one who would like to find out more information about our founding fathers.
One thing that surprised me was that Mr. Jefferson sent troops to help out George Washington against the British. Also that Mr. Jefferson did not want to separate from the Crown. As he grew in age, he no longer wanted to leave his beloved home that he had built.
In the book it only mentioned this once, however Thomas Jefferson had promised "When I first entered on stage of public life I came to a resolution never to engage, while in public office, in any kind of enterprise for the improvement of my fortune, nor to wear any other character than that of a farmer. I have never departed from it in a single instance;"
In multiple bills Thomas Jefferson tried to abolish slavery, Timing was not right for the people of early America to accept this.
After reading this I would like to see the home that Thomas Jefferson built in Monticello for myself. It is still there today owned by his descendants.

Night Of Wolves

NIGHT OF WOLVES
BY David Dalglish

“The humans are weak. Their skin is soft, and their minds dull from years of safety. We are the vicious. We are the destroyers. Come the full moon, when our goddess watches our victory, we will taste of their blood!”
Wolf-men, savage creatures given humanoid form in an ancient war, mass along the Gihon River. Led by their packleader Redclaw, they seek to cross the river and claim a land of their own, slaughtering those that would stand in their way. Two paladins, Jerico of the god Ashhur, and Darius of the god Karak, must helm the desperate defense against the invasion.
Their friendship will be tested as their gods resume an unending war, and their very faiths call for the death of the other. Together, friend or foe, they must face Redclaw’s horde.
Can faith remain when the gods call for blood?

First of I got this book thinking of Werewolves. It's nothing of the sort, even with that I found it a interesting world that Mr. Dalglish has created here for me to fall into. I thought that it was not what I was looking for at first then really got into the characters of his story. The book was well rounded and I would read it again say the time comes. I can't wait to read the other books from his world. Check out his books at http://ddalglish.com/wp/

A little about me!

I've never been a reader, I didn't like most any books. That was until my ninth grade year, When I was introduced to Anne Rice and the Vampire Chronicles. I would read Anne Rice's books and a few other like Stephen King. Now I'm reading both Fiction and Nonfiction, some authors are unknown others are well known. Most of these books are being read on an E-READER. Thanks to a great teacher Dave Ramsey I will try to read two nonfiction books a month. Most fiction will be Sifi Fantasy or there about. I do however read very slow, I read every word on the page. Thank you for reading.
